Cooperative spectrum sensing against noise uncertainty using Neyman-Pearson lemma on fuzzy hypothesis test

چکیده
In this paper, we consider the problem of cooperative spectrum sensing in the presence of the noise power uncertainty. We propose a new spectrum sensing method based on the fuzzy hypothesis test (FHT) that utilizes membership functions as hypotheses for the modeling and analyzing such uncertainty. In particular, we apply the Neyman–Pearson lemma on the FHT and propose a threshold-based local detector at each secondary user (SU) in which the threshold depends on the noise power uncertainty. In the proposed scheme, a centralized manner in the cooperative spectrum sensing is deployed in which each SU sends its one bit decision to a fusion center. The fusion center makes a final decision about the ognitive radio uzzy hypothesis test eyman–Pearson lemma oise power uncertainty ooperative spectrum sensing absence/presence of a primary user (PU). The performance of the PU’s signal detection is evaluated by the probability of signal detection for a specific signal to noise ratio when the probability of false alarm is set to a fixed value. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared numerically with two classical threshold-based energy detectors. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm considerably outperforms the methods with a bi-thresholds energy detector and a simple energy detector in the er u presence of the noise pow

Fuzzy likelihood ratio test for cooperative spectrum sensing in cognitive radio
Efficient and reliable spectrum sensing is an essential requirement in cognitive radio networks. One challenge faced in the spectrum sensing is the existence of the noise power uncertainty. This paper proposes a cooperative spectrum sensing scheme using fuzzy set theory to mitigate the noise power uncertainty. In this scheme, the noise power uncertainty in each Secondary User (SU) is modeled as...
متن کاملDetecting Fixed Amplitude Signals in a Fuzzy Gaussian Environment
In practical signal detection scenarios, parameters of a random process are often uncertain. In this paper, we model such uncertainties as fuzzy parameters of a stationary random process. A fuzzy Neyman-Pearson hypothesis test concept which accepts any number of fuzzy parameters is presented. A suitable decision rule is developed by applying theory for ordering fuzzy numbers, and stated in term...
متن کاملCooperative Spectrum Sensing Performance-overhead Tradeoff in Cognitive Radio Network under Bandwidth Constraint
In cognitive radio network unlicensed users continuously scan a vast range of frequencies to detect ‘white spaces’ or ‘spectrum holes’ that are temporarily and spatially not being used for communications by licensed user and this process is known as spectrum sensing. In order to execute the cooperative spectrum sensing among cognitive radio users, data fusion schemes are superior to that of dec...
متن کاملPerformance Comparison of the Neyman-pearson Fusion Rule with Counting Rules for Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio
Distributed spectrum sensing (DSS) is of great importance in Cognitive Radio, especially under fading or shadowing effects. In order to evaluate the performance of a distributed system, it is commonly compared with the centralized system as an upper performance bound. Now the question is whether or not one can obtain a distributed strategy serving as an upper bound to benchmark any distributed ...
متن کاملCooperative Spectrum Sensing Based on a Low-Complexity Cyclostationary Detection Method for Cognitive Radio Networks
Fast reliable spectrum sensing (SS) is a crucial problem in the cognitive radio systems. To address this issue, cyclostationarity-based detection methods, which are generally more complex but more reliable than energy detection methods, have been proposed. This paper presents a new method to detect the presence of the second-order cyclostationarity in the OFDM-based primary user (PU) signals. T...
